An Original Vintage 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] News Photo (Learn More) September Affair, the classic 1951 William Dieterle romantic melodrama ("...it happened in Capri!"; "Let's live for today!"; "From a story by Fritz Rotter and Robert Thoeren"; about a man and woman who are traveling in Italy and after a crash, they are thought dead, which allows them to start a life over together, but eventually, they realize they can't leave their pasts behind) starring Joan Fontaine, Joseph Cotten, Francoise Rosay, Jessica Tandy, Robert Arthur, and James Lydon. Note that the movie is notable for having mature actors in the lead roles (rare for a Hollywood movie), and the song "September Affair", which was recorded by Walter Huston shortly before his death. It was played in the movie and released as a single afterwards and was extremely popular! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still measures 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Note that this still was consigned to us by legendary collector/dealer Marty Davis! Marty was hired in 1972 to evaluate the entire collection of W. Ward Marsh (1893-1971), who was the film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper from 1919, until his retirement in 1970. In 1919 Marsh wrote his first of 23,000 movie reviews for the Plain Dealer. Marsh died less than a year after his retirement in 1970. His library, and photographic and memorabilia archives were given to the proprietor of Cleveland's finest bookstore. Marty Davis was the first person with a background in film history and collectibles to examine the archives. He worked for three to four hours a day, for six months, and his compensation was his pick of the archives. This still (and the other stills that carry this paragraph) are from the W. Ward Marsh archives, and all were stamped on the back by Marty Davis to indicate that they came from this legendary collection. Condition: good to very good. There are creases around the edges, more so in the bottom of the still, and some faint staining in the lower left border, but the still is otherwise in pretty good condition.
