A 1946 Re-Release Theatrical French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 46 3/4" x 63" [119 x 160 cm]) (Learn More) Zero de Conduite: Jeunes Diables au College (released in the U.S. as "Zero For Conduct"), the classic 1933 Jean Vigo French boarding school juvenile delinquent comedy short starring Jean Daste, Robert le Flon, Delphin, and Du Verron, and Leon Larive. Note that this classic movie opened in Paris in 1933, and it shocked and outraged many critics and film goers, and it was immediately banned! It was not shown again in France until 1946, when it was rediscovered by critics, and of course, it came to be considered a classic, and it is clear that it greatly inspired both Francois Truffaut's "The 400 Blows" and Lindsay Anderson's "If..." (and to be fair, its most famous scene, with a wild pillow fight, clearly itself found inspiration in Abel Gance's "Napoleon"!). We do not know if any posters exist from the 1933 showing. There are French one-panel posters from 1946, and there are also many reproductions and much later re-releases of the 1946 poster. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Jean Colin Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been heavily reproduced (see above). This absolutely is the original 1946 re-release poster for this classic movie! Also note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. All the known originals of this poster have darkening along the folds and are fragile. Someone took this poster and had it glued to a paper backing, but they did not perform any restoration, and the poster has separated in the left half of the top fold. There is also rippling above the center of the title because the poster was not glued well. Finally, someone wanted to display the poster after it was paperbacked and they put pieces of tape at the edge of the top border and then put nails under those pieces of tape, in the blank border of the poster and the paperbacking behind it. They also put nail holes in the bottom border of the poster and the paperbacking behind it. There are some other areas where the poster is lifting from the paper that it is glued to. If I owned this great poster I would surely have it immediately removed from the old paperbacking and properly linenbacked and after it will display well, but bear all of the above in mind before bidding on his poster.
