An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 9" x 11 1/4" [23 x 29 cm]; contains 22 supplements) (Learn More)

Columbia Pictures 1984-85, the 1984 Columbia campaign book ("The pictures you want most are the pictures we make best") sent to theater owners encouraging them to show upcoming Columbia movies in 1984 and 1985. The book is a folder that includes 22 cards with descriptions of and information about upcoming movies including: A Passage to India, Fright Night, St. Elmo's Fire, and Starman. Surprisingly, there is not a single image for any of the movies (no doubt Columbia was not doing well financially and looking to save money). The cards are different colors and staggered in size, which makes for a nice looking display in spite of the lack of images. There were two versions of this. In one, all of the cards solely have the titles of the movies and are otherwise blank, and in the other, there are descriptions of the movies on each card. We don't understand why the blank one was made (perhaps it was some sort of test). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
