DeMille's North West Mounted Police, the 1940 Cecil B. DeMille Royal Canadian Mounted Police Mountie Texas Ranger romantic cowboy western ("Cecil B. DeMille's North West Mounted Police"; "Original Screen Play by Alan Le May, Jesse Lasky, Jr. and C. Gardner Sullivan"; a ridiculous yet entertaining story of a Texas Ranger who travels to Canada to take a prisoner home, but the Mounties want him too!) starring Gary Cooper (as Dusty Rivers), Madeleine Carroll, Paulette Goddard, Preston Foster, Robert Preston, Akim Tamiroff, Lynne Overman, George Bancroft, Lon Chaney Jr., Ralph Byrd, and Walter Hampden NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script has been personally autographed (signed) by NINE people: Cecil B. DeMille, Madaleine Carroll, Gary Cooper, Robert Preston, Paulette Goddard, Preston Foster, Akim Tamiroff, Lynne Overman, George Bancroft! Also note that this script is from February 13, 1940. Also note that the writers are not credited on this but that the movie credits Alan Le May, Jesse Lasky Jr., and C. Gardner Sullivan. While we have no certificate of authenticity to verify the autographs on the cover of this script, we think it is virtually a certainty that they are all authentic. We have seen a similar script from "Beau Geste", also from Paramount, and from a short time before this movie, and that script was in an elaborate presentation volume, and that one was autographed by the top stars of that movie. Apparently, at this time, Paramount would do this with their major productions and then gift these special signed scripts to important people (it is quite possible that this script was once in some sort of presentation box, but if so, it is no longer present). Condition: very good. The pages of the script were attached with two very large staples at the spine. The final page has separated from the rest of the script and has a small tear at the bottom left, but otherwise, the script is in nice condition. There are some faint smudges on the cover of the script, which has all the autographs (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
