Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this Uruguayan herald is incredibly rare! We had only auctioned one other 17 years ago, and this one two years ago, but now this one (which is in better condition than the one from 17 years ago) has been reconsigned to us, so it is still only one of two we have ever auctioned, and the better condition one! The U.S. herald for Frankenstein is one color (there is both a "brown" version and a "green" version), but this Uruguayan herald is more colorful, and has both a great cover image and a great montage of images inside! Please note that Uruguayan heralds, like Spanish heralds, were printed in large quantities, and then sent to individual theaters in Uruguay, and they would have the backs of them overprinted or stamped with their theater name and specific play dates. But because a movie might play in Uruguay for a period of a year or two (traveling from theater to theater), there is no guarantee that the date overprinted on the back of the herald is the same as the date that the herald was first printed (and the date that the movie first played in Uruguay). We strongly suspect that most movies did not reach Uruguay until a year or two after their first release in other countries. But in the case of this movie, we have seen 2 heralds and been told of a third and all of the play dates on the heralds match 1932. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
