An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

The Speckled Band, the 1931 Jack Raymond English crime mystery thriller ("You must be slow-blooded indeed if you are not thrilled by 'THE SPECKLED BAND'") starring Raymond Massey (as Sherlock Holmes), Athole Stewart (as Dr. John Watson), Lyn Harding ("as Dr. Rylou"), Angela Baddeley, and Nancy Price. Note that after dozens of silent Sherlock Holmes movies, he was played in talking movies by Clive Brook in two movies. Then Raymond Massey took over in this movie, but he only played the classic detective in this one movie!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that items from this early sound Sherlock Holmes movie are BEYOND rare! In all our years of auctioning, we have never seen or even heard of any first release movie paper item from this movie! Also note that the still comes with a "certificate of authenticity" from The Tribune Archive.

Condition: good to very good. The still was used in at least one newspaper or magazine, and you can see faint crop lines around Massey's image. There are many faint smudges and creases scattered through the still, but they are not that distracting.
