An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded German Movie Poster (measures 38 1/2" x 56" [98 x 142 cm]) (Learn More) Diskretion - Ehrensache (released in the U.S. in 1939 as "Discretion With Honor"), the 1938 Johannes Meyer German romantic comedy (about an American heiress who is forced to marry a German nobleman, and despite initial protests eventually [and predictability] falls in love with him) starring Heli Finkenzeller, Ida Wust, Fita Benkhoff, Ralph Arthur Roberts (billed as "R.A. Roberts"), Theo Lingen, and Hans Holt If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned a poster (nor seen any other movie paper) from this movie as "pre-War" movie posters from Germany are virtually nonexistent (it seems likely that most were destroyed during the huge paper shortages that occurred during World War II). As is typical of pre-World War II German posters, the poster has a seal in the printing near one corner which gives the date of "20 June 1938"! Condition: poor to fair. The poster is in much lesser condition. There are several defects scattered along the edges and foldlines/crossfolds and there are several significant areas of foldline and crossfold separation (the poster is completely separated along the center horizontal fold and is currently in two pieces) . Many of the defects have been repaired with tape from the back that may bleed through to the front. The poster paper itself has become very brittle with age, making the poster difficult to handle without creating further fold and edge damage.
