A Folded French Travel Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 39" [62 x 99 cm]) (Learn More) Air Afrique (literally translates to "Air Africa"), the 1964 French airplane airline aviation travel poster (with a tagline that translates to "Unite Africa by DC8") promoting tourism to Africa aboard Air Afrique airlines, and featuring an image of a Douglas DC8. There are three posters that Air Afrique commissioned from Jacques Auriac in 1964. Each featured surreal colorful art of one of Africa's majestic animals: an elephant, a zebra, and an antelope, and all three are incredibly rare! Artist: Jacques Auriac Important Added Info: As noted above, this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning, and we have never auctioned the other two posters from this series! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has some creases at the right ends of each of the folds with just a few tiny bits of surface paper loss on small parts of the folds. It was attached to a wall with pinholes and tape around the edges and that still remains. One could certainly display this wonderful poster exactly as it is, or on might choose to have it linenbacked, but either way the new owner will have an incredibly rare and wonderful poster to display on their wall.
