An Original Vintage Folded Czech World War II Poster (measures 18 1/2" x 24 3/4" [47 x 63 cm]) (Learn More)

Spare Kohle Fur den Winter (literally translates to "Save Coal For the Winter"), the 1940s Czechoslovakian World War II (WWII) Home Front poster (in Czech and German, with a tagline that translates to "Make the allotment in time!") promoting conservative use of coal, and featuring cartoon art of a man with a blanket and pulling a wagon of coal. Note that we cannot be certain that this poster was printed during WWII. While the poster is printed in both German and Czech, Czechoslovakia did have a large ethnic German population prior to the start of the war (the purported suffering of these people was the justification for the German annexation in 1938). However, the poster was printed in the city of Pardubice, which was not in the areas with heavy concentration of ethnic Germans, so we believe it may have been printed during the German occupation. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: fair to good. The poster has slight discoloration scattered in various areas and some deterioration and paper loss along portions of the folds (making it slightly fragile.) Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid.
