Vlamingen Sluit de Rangen der Germaansche SS (literally translates to "Flemish Join the Ranks of the Germanic SS"), the 1940s Belgian World War II (WWII) recruitment poster produced by the Nazi German occupying forces, encouraging Flemish people (a Germanic ethnic group native to Flanders) to join the SS. This poster features "HDM" art of Nazi soldiers and the symbol for Flanders in the background, with the SS logo over it. Soon after the occupation of Belgium in 1940, SS leader Heinrich Himmler started a campaign to call for Dutch and Belgian volunteers to join the ranks of his newly created Waffen-SS Regiment Westland. Volunteers were told they would be involved only in policing activity, but shortly after formation in 1941 they were moved from Brussels to be trained in occupied Poland in order to prepare them for the war with the Soviet Union. They served in several war theaters on the Eastern Front and suffered heavy losses. The remaining members were eventually captured by British forces who transferred them to Belgian authorities who tried them for collaboration with the enemy.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was folded and it had creases along all the folds, with a lesser number of creases scattered in the non-foldline areas, and scuffs in the solid colored areas, with faint staining in the top left and top right (in the borders and extending into the image in both areas). The poster was backed onto a burlap-like material and then was re-folded along the original folds without any restoration. The poster can certainly be displayed as it is, or one could choose to have it removed from the backing and then re-backed.
