Auction History Result 4s0992 LOT OF 5 UNFOLDED SINGLE-SIDED 27X41 R94 MIDNIGHT COWBOY ONE-SHEETS R1994 Voight, Hoffman Date Sold 7/9/2023 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 5 unfolded single-sided 27x41 1994 re-release one-sheets from Midnight Cowboy, the classic 1969 John Schlesinger (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) male prostitution melodrama ("Based on the novel by James Leo Herlihy"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; about a naive Texan who moves to New York to become a male prostitute for wealthy women, and ends up in a close relationship with a male street hustler) starring Dustin Hoffman (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Ratso Rizzo), Jon Voight (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Joe Buck), Brenda Vaccaro, John McGiver, Ruth White, Sylvia Miles (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Barnard Hughes, Viva, Gastone Rossilli, Ultra Violet, and Bob Balaban. This was the first (and only) adult movie to win a Best Picture Oscar. Dustin Hoffman not winning the Best Actor Academy Award is certainly the biggest mistake in the history of the Academy Awards! IMPORTANT! The lot contains 5 identical posters, so we have only pictured one, but the winner of this auction receives all 5 posters! Note that this is one of 47 lots of one-sheets we are currently auctioning, in 47 separate auctions. Each has five examples of the same poster, and we have only pictured one (because all are in excellent condition). Our consignor knows that he can get more money for these if he auctioned them one at a time, but he wants to sell them more quickly, so he authorized us to put them in these lots of 5 posters per lot. They are quite possibly going to sell for discounted prices, and dealers or collectors who buy these lots will probably be able to sell some of them and end up with one or more for "free", and possibly make money besides!
