Date Sold 11/14/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Legionaires in Paris, the 1927 Arvid E. Gillstrom billed as ("A.E. Gillstrom") silent military comedy ("A Greater FBO Gold Bond"; "From the story by Louis Sarecky"; set in France; presented by Joseph P. Kennedy) starring Al Cooke, Kit Guard, ('supported by") Louise Lorraine, Virginia Sale, and John Aasen billed as "the world's tallest man"). Note that John Aasen was an American-born giant, of Norwegian descent, who appeared in ten movies between 1923 and 1936, often uncredited. He first appeared as "Colosso" in Harold Lloyd's "Why Worry?", and he appeared with the Our Gang kids as a circus giant in "Growing Pains". He died in 1938 at the age of 48. He was advertised as being 8' 9", but this is an extreme exaggeration, for it was common at the time to add at least one foot to the height of tall men in circuses, and in 2008, his skeleton was measured and he was discovered to have been 7' 2". If anyone knows more about John Aasen, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. There is a long diagonal crease in the upper right of the card and a 1" tear in the right of the bottom border. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
