Artist: Alfredo Capitani d'apres Norman Rockwell Important Added Info: Note that the IMDb says this movie was first released in Italy in 1947. However, we can find no poster from that supposed first release. This poster is dated 1949, and is the only Italian poster from that release we have ever auctioned. The only other Italian posters we have seen are from a later (probably 1950s) re-release. It is possible that the IMDb is wrong, or it is possible that the 1947 release was at a festival or some very limited release, or it may be that the 1947 posters are so incredibly rare that none have surfaced! Therefore, we are putting this poster as being "possibly" from the first release in 1949. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that the Italian poster artist who drew this poster, Alfredo Capitani, copied the Norman Rockwell art from the first release U.S. poster, and because he did this, he put "da Norman Rockwell A. Capitani", meaning that the art that inspired it was by Rockwell, but that Capitani drew it (sometimes this is also added to posters when they have the same art and are used in a different country, but that is not the case here). Also note that this Italian one-sheet measures 27" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor wear on the folds. It had an irregular tear running from the lower right border through the background and into the middle of the bottom of the dress, 3" from the bottom. There was a second irregular tear in the left border, running into the bottom left of the dress, with a few irregular tears near it. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
