A Set of 4 Original Vintage Folded World War II Posters (measure 40" x 56" [102 x 142 cm]) (Learn More) The Four Freedoms is a series of four oil paintings ("Save Freedom of Speech", "Save Freedom of Worship", "Freedom from Want", and "Freedom from Fear") made in 1943 by artist Norman Rockwell. The four freedoms refer to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1941 State of the Union address, in which he identified essential human rights that should be universally protected. The paintings were reproduced in The Saturday Evening Post, were used for World War II (WWII) war bond posters, and were the highlight of a touring exhibition sponsored by The Post and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. They were issued in several different sizes in 1943, and they are sometimes sold as sets of four, but much more often sold as individual posters. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Norman Rockwell Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned a full set of all four of these posters in the 40x56 size (which are far more rare than the two smaller sizes), and that was five years ago, and the set of four sold for $1,551! Condition: good to very good. The posters are folded as originally distributed. They have varying degrees of slight staining in the borders and slightly in the images as seen in our images of each of the four posters. After a pretty simple linenbacking each of the four posters will display really well! Learn More about condition grades
