The Spirit is a comic book masked vigilante crimefighter created by cartoonist Will Eisner. He first appeared in 1940 as the main feature of a newsprint comic book insert distributed in the Sunday edition of Register and Tribune Syndicate newspapers. It was ultimately carried by 20 Sunday newspapers, with a combined circulation of five million copies during the 1940s. "The Spirit Section", as the insert was popularly known, continued until October 5, 1952. There were also issues of The Spirit comic book as well in the 1940s and 1950s. Will Eisner was a giant in the comics industry, and countless younger artists were greatly influenced by his work on The Spirit! In 2011, IGN ranked the Spirit as 21st in the Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of all time.

Condition: fair to good. There is water staining in the top left of the cover, which extends through to all the rest of the pages. There is similar but lighter staining in the bottom left of the cover and the interior pages. None of the pages are stuck together (see our images).
