He was the star of a dozen shorts made in 1920 and 1921 that were all based on Booth Tarkington's "Adventures and Emotions of Edgar Pomeroy" short stories about a juvenile man named Edgar, who has many adventures, and he and his teenage friends travel to exotic locales (where they encounter adults), and even reenact Shakespeare's Hamlet in one of the shorts! We don't know what became of Mr. Peil after he made the Edgar movies, because it is difficult to find any information about him, but we know that he lived until 1962, when he passed away at the age of 54. If anyone knows more about him, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that these four stills are surely from the dozen "Edgar" movies that Mr. Peil made while a child. One has "Edgar Takes the Cake" on the back. If anyone knows what movie the other three stills are from, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The still with the giant firecracker has unevenness scattered in the emulsion, but it is mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light. The other three stills are in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
