An Original Vintage French Campaign Book (measures 10" x 12" [25 x 30 cm]; 88 pages) (Learn More) Franco 1929-30, the 1929 French campaign book featuring images and information about upcoming films from Franco Film. While this covers many movies released in France that year, it contains publicity on three really important movies: Alfred Hitchcock's Downhill, Pandora's Box (starring Louise Brooks), and I Kiss Your Hand Madame (starring Marlene Dietrich, which she made in Germany BEFORE "The Blue Angel"). For almost every movie, the book has a 4-page color advertisement, and interspersed between those 4-page ads are black & white portraits of top French stars, and those pages are perforated at the spine, so they could be removed and displayed by theater owners. This is a remarkably rare campaign book (we have auctioned a loose page of part of the Pandora's Box ad, but no other ads, and never another example of this book). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this French campaign book, and it sold for $227! That example has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned! However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 2. Condition: very good. The book has felt covers and they have scuffing on them.
