An Original Vintage Photo in Reverse Painted Glass Frame (measures 10" x 12" [25 x 30 cm]; opening measures 7" x 9") (Learn More) Jeanette MacDonald was an actress/singer from the 1920s to the 1940s. She was born in 1903, and she works in choruses on Broadway in the 1920s. In 1929, Ernst Lubitsch picked her to play opposite Maurice Chevalier in "The Love Parade" for Paramount, and she also made the classic "Love Me Tonight", opposite Maurice Chevalier and directed by Rouben Mamoulian. In 1931, she left Paramount and signed with MGM, and in 1935, she starred in "Naughty Marietta" with Nelson Eddy, who whom she appeared in several other opera-like musicals of the 1930s. She had a big hit with "San Francisco", opposite Clark Gable, in 1936. In 1938, she quit the movies to perform in shows and on stage. From 1937 to her passing, she was married to actor Gene Raymond. She returned in the late 1940s to make two more movies, but she suffered from a bad heart, and passed away in 1965 at the age of 61. Important Added Info: Note that this photo has a FACSIMILE autograph that is within the printing (it has NOT been personally autographed). Note that this is one of eight "reverse painted glass frames" we are currently auctioning, in eight separate auctions. Each has an image of a different star in it, but those are "picture frame photos" that have little value. The real value is in the frames themselves! These were very popular for a time in the 1930s and 1940s, because they took a tremendous amount of time and effort to create, and they often had great art deco designs painted onto the glass by hand. They are obviously fragile, and not many of them survive, and many of the ones that do survive have condition issues. This is a rare opportunity to acquire any of these eight reverse painted glass frames, and of course, the new owner can substitute an image of their choice for the current image (either a family photo, or a different celebrity). These frames make for very striking displays on the wall! Condition: good. Learn More about condition grades
