McAdoo Secretary of the Treasury"; "Buy a United States Government Bond of the 2nd Liberty Loan of 1917"). Note that this poster features Dan Sayre Groesbeck art of Uncle Sam gesturing towards troops, ships and planes with the Statue of Liberty in the background. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Dan Sayre Groesbeck Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had a 2" tear in the right of the bottom border. It was in a frame for many years and it had slightly darkened in the extreme outer edges of the blank border, and in the top left background area. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above (they clearly solely backed it for conservation purposes, so that the poster would be protected).
