An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Unknown Cavalier, the 1926 Albert S. Rogell silent romantic cowboy western ("From the story 'Ride Him Cowboy' by Kenneth Perkins") starring Ken Maynard (in the title role as Tom Drury, "The Unknown Cavalier"), Kathleen Collins, David Torrence, T. Roy Barnes, and Jim Mason. Note that this movie was remade under the title of the source story in 1932 with John Wayne in the lead role! Also note that "Tarzan", Ken Maynard's horse, is not billed in this movie. We don't know if he appeared in it uncredited, but we do know that he had been in several Ken Maynard films prior to this one (he had been bought by Maynard for $50 in 1925, and after he was called "Tarzan" in a movie, Edgar Rice Burroughs threatened to sue Maynard, and they settled when Maynard agreed to have him billed as "Tarzan, The Wonder Horse", and he soon had permanent billing alongside Maynard, and he performed with Maynard for the next 15 years or so!). Also, note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster comes from a collection that was consigned to us of window cards, inserts, and half-sheets, ALL of which are in MUCH lesser condition (as is immediately evident from looking at the images of these posters). But many of these posters are from early 1930s titles where it is next-to-impossible to find a better condition example of these posters! Obviously, the cost of restoration of these posters will vary greatly depending on the extent of the defects, so please carefully study our super-sized image of each item BEFORE you place a bid. Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Most insert posters were folded twice horizontally right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded example of most insert posters, especially from before 1970! While the poster has never been folded, it is over 80 years old, so we would not want to attempt to roll it, so it will be sent in a large flat package. Condition: good. There is some water staining at top and there is light rippling throughout the poster from exposure to moisture. There are a few 1" and smaller tears around the edges of the poster.
