Date Sold 8/4/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Unfolded Special Poster (measures 18" x 23" [46 x 58 cm]) (Learn More) Women's Liberation, the 1970 feminism women's movement poster ("End of sexism, racism and imperialism"; "Building of a new society"; "Restructuring of sex roles"; "Free abortion"; "Child-care shared communally by men & women"; "End of male chauvinism"; "End of job discrimination"; "Equal pay for equal work"; "24 - hr free child care"; "End of sexual exploitation"; "Communalization of house work"; "Child-rearing without sexual stereotyping"; "End of educational tracking") promoting a movement for equal rights between men and women. This poster features artwork of a woman with the goals of the movement listed as ideas in her brain. It originally ran in Newsweek magazine in the issue dated 3/23/70, which had a cover story entitled "Women in Revolt", and someone made this wonderful poster version of it! It is fascinating and sad at the same time to see what progress has been made on these issues in the last 46 years, and what issues are almost exactly the same now as they were. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that in June, we auctioned a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters, stage play posters, and political posters mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945. These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. In that consignment were around a dozen posters that could not be shipped rolled in tubes, but needed to be sent in flat packages, so those posters are in this set of auctions! Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase these posters! Note that this poster is printed on a heavy stock paper that can't be rolled, and the poster will be need to be shipped in a large flat package. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Some of these items can ONLY be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. On some of them (for example f it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: good. There is a 4" tear in the top border that has tape on the back. There are creases and scuffs scattered throughout the poster, with some light brown stains around the edges, including in the title area. Obviously, this poster can be restored, but bear in mind its condition and the cost of restoration before placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
