Date Sold 3/4/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) June Havoc (born Ellen Evangeline Hovick) was an actress, first as a young child in 1918, and afterwards from the 1940s to 1990. She was the sister of Gypsy Rose Lee (who was born Louise Hovick), and like her sister, Havoc was pushed on stage by her mother from an early age, performing as "Baby June". Both sisters had very difficult lives, and after their mother passed away, Gypsy Rose Lee wrote "Gypsy", based on their lives (but Havoc felt it distorted her own life, and did not talk to her sister again for a decade, and only then because Rose was dying of cancer). Havoc had mixed success in movies, TV, and on the stage, with some major starring roles, but also with many lesser appearances. Some of her movies include: Gentleman's Agreement, When My Baby Smiles at Me, Once a Thief, and Timber Queen. Havoc passed away in 2010 at the age of 97. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by June Havoc! Our consignor purchased a collection of signed photos that were acquired by a man named Fred Owesney. Mr. Owesney went to New York City in the late 1940s and got jobs in the theater, and during that time, he acquired signed photos from a number of the people he worked with. In the early 1950s, he moved back to Steubenville, Ohio, but he stayed in contact through the mail with many of the celebrities he had known in New York City, some of whom went on to significant careers, and he visited New York many times in the 1950s, and he saw shows and many of the celebrities he saw gave him signed photos, and he also acquired some signed photos through the mail. This is one of the photos from Mr. Owesney's collection. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature is surely authentic. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
