An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Lady at Midnight, the 1948 Sam Newfield (billed as "Sherman Scott") Pathe crime film noir ("The Prize...one million dollars! The Pawn...and innocent child! The Price...cold, brutal, Murder!"; "The clock ticked off Murder At Midnight"; "This child is worth a million dollars ... If they live to spend it!"; "Screenplay and Original Story by Richard Sale"; about a couple who adopt a child, not knowing she is the heiress to a fortune, but then a murder gets them involved) starring Richard Denning, Frances Rafferty, Lora Lee Michel, Ralph Dunn, Nana Bryant, and Jack Searle. Note that Lora Lee Michel, who played the adopted child in this movie, had a very unusual personal life! This was her first movie, made at 8 years old, and she herself was adopted, and her birth mother tried to regain custody of her, but lost. She made twelve movies in two years and then ran away from her adoptive parents, saying that they had beaten her and forced her to make movies! The judge let them keep custody of her, but only when they let her "retire", and they moved back to Texas where they were from, and Miss Michel only had a few more acting roles. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. There is a faint vertical scuff mark in the upper right of the image that runs through the woman's hair and forehead. There are creases in the top right corner (repaired with tape from the back) and a few very faint smudges around the edges. There is a tiny tear in the right blank border that was repaired with a small piece of tape from the back. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition! Note that the white tape on the back that our consignor used to repair some or all of the tears is Filmoplast P90 acid free conservation paper tape, which is recommended by all restorers for such repairs.
