An Original Vintage Unfolded Polish Circus Poster (measures 26" x 38 1/4" [66 x 97 cm]) (Learn More) Cyrk (literally translates to "Circus"), the Polish circus poster featuring great artwork. Contemporary Polish circus posters emerged in 1962 as a genre of the Polish School of Posters. They are characterized by their display of aesthetic qualities such as painterly gestures, linear design, hand-lettering, metaphors, humor, and vibrant colors. Usually based on a single theme and meant to be advertisements, they were created in an attempt to interest the passerby in the upcoming circus. However, they proved so popular that some were reprinted and sold directly to the public and we list those as commercial posters. UPDATED 09/10/2019: Note that this poster is from 1971, not 1977 as we originally mentioned. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has creases and tiny tears along portions of some edges and there is a slightly larger tear at upper left that has been repaired with tape from the back (near the lower part of the "C" of the title). It is otherwise in pretty good condition and after a pretty simple linenbacking the poster will look great (or it certainly could be displayed as is!) Learn More about condition grades
