An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Babes on Broadway, the 1941 Busby Berkeley New York City Broadway theater stage acting dance romantic musical comedy ("The fastest musical show on Earth!"; "Biggest song and dance spectacle of all time!"; "Mickey's impersonation of Carmen Miranda is a riot!"; "Original story by Fred Finklehoffe") starring Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Fay Bainter, Virginia Weidler, Ray McDonald, Richard Quine, Donald Meek, and Alexander Woollcott. Note that this movie includes a scene where Rooney does a dance cross-dressed as Carmen Miranda, complete with a fruit basket on his head! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still shows Rooney and Garland in a close up from the scene where they introduce a new dance called the "Hoe Down", a sort of jive hillbilly dance (the year before, they had introduced "La Conga" in "Strike Up the Band", and they hoped this new dance would prove equally as popular!). Also note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. Normally, this was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby. However, this snipe was glued on so that the written portion is only readable when the snipe is folded over the bottom of the still, which slightly defeats this purpose (although one can see the top of the still and the snipe at the same time, which could not be done if the snipe was glued on the back). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! There is a stamp on the back of the still that reads, "KINDLY CREDIT M-G-M Photo by VIRGIL APGER". Condition: very good. There is a tiny tear near the center of the top blank border. There are a very few faint emulsion scuffs scattered around the edges of the still, but they are truthfully not at all noticeable except when the still is tilted to the light.
