Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

My Official Wife, the 1926 Paul L. Stein silent pre-revolutionary Russia/Austria nobility rape revenge romantic melodrama ("From the play by A.C. Gunter"; a pretty unbelievable story of a young Russian woman who is raped by the son of a nobleman and then she is railroaded on false charges, but the rapist feels sorry afterward, so he helps her escape to Vienna, where she becomes a famous cabaret dancer; years later, the rapist follows her there and she doesn't recognize him and he falls in love with her; then she realizes who he is and goes back to Russia with him to get her revenge; after the Revolution, he escapes to Vienna, where he is destitute, and she takes him in, and they fall in love) starring Irene Rich, Conway Tearle, Stuart Holmes, John Miljan, Gustav von Seyffertitz, and Jane Winton. Note that director Paul L. Stein was an Austrian who became an actor in Germany in 1915, but who started directing and went to the U.S., where he had success directing "women's pictures". He went to England in 1931 and stayed there until his passing in 1951. He is completely forgotten today, but he achieved some significant success in his lifetime.

Important Added Info: Note that this is a hand-colored card. In the days of silent movie prior to the invention of good quality full-color printing, studios would have lobby cards printed in black and white and then amazingly would hire women to hand-color the cards one at a time (apparently labor was very cheap at the time)! So, each card is colored slightly differently, and the coloring is never a perfect match.

Condition: good to very good. There are water stains around the edges of the card. There is a crease in the bottom 6" of the lower left border 1" from the left edge of the card. There is a tack hole in each corner. There are minor smudges in the image area.
