An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo, the 1935 Stephen Roberts Monaco romantic gambling casino comedy melodrama ("From the play by Ilia Surgutchoff and Frederick Albert Swann"; very loosely based on a true story; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck) starring Ronald Colman, Joan Bennett, Colin Clive, Nigel Bruce, Frank Reicher, Montagu Love, and Maurice Cass. Note that the "system" used by the man that actually "broke the bank" was simply a variation on continually doubling your bet on an even money proposition until you finally win, and then starting over again at one unit! Of course, the fatal "flaw" to this system is that eventually you run into an amazingly bad streak and then you either hit the casino limit, or you run out of money, or both!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this insert, and that was 22 years ago!

Note that this poster could conceivably be rolled in a tube, but because it has some tape on the back of the folds, and it would lessen its condition by folding it, we intend to send it in a large flat package, and will only send it rolled or folded if the new owner accepts responsibility if it is damaged from being rolled or folded. Please bear this in mind before placing your bid on this rare poster.

Condition: good to very good. The poster had separation at each fold, with some tiny creases along those areas. Someone put tape on the back of each fold. There is also tape on the back of some tears and pinholes in the corners, and on the back of a tear in the top border.
