An Original Vintage 8" x 10" News Photo Still (Learn More) Cab Calloway was a famous black African American jazz musician, bandleader who appeared in some movies from 1930s to the 1990s (and his music was used in several Fleischer Bros. cartoons), including: Minnie the Moocher, Cabin in the Sky, The Blues Brothers, and The Cincinnati Kid. He passed away in 1994 at the age of 86. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of Cab Calloway performing with his band on the stage of the CBS Radio set (there is a Columbia CBS banner hanging at the back of the stage); the still calls Calloway "America's premier scat singer". Also note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. This was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby (and of course, the snipe would be folded backwards, so it would not show). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! Condition: fine. There are faint emulsion scuffs scattered throughout the still, but they are truthfully not very noticeable except when the still is tilted to the light. Learn More about condition grades
