An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) The Roaring Twenties, the classic 1939 Raoul Walsh New York City post-World War I (WWI) Prohibition romantic love triangle organized-crime bootlegger gangster melodrama (based on the story 'The World Moves On' by Mark Hellinger; about three men who get out of the army after World War I, and two of them go into the bootlegging business, and they achieve great success, and one of them has an unrequited love for a woman!) starring James Cagney, Priscilla Lane, Humphrey Bogart, Gladys George, Jeffrey Lynn, Frank McHugh, Paul Kelly, and Al Hill NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of "Jimmy Cagney" throwing a joint birthday party on the set of "The Roaring Twenties", for actor Paul Kelly, and also one of the stand-ins, Alta Mae Smith, who was Priscilla Lane's stand-in; the still shows Cagney with Kelly, Lane, and Smith, eating birthday cake; the snipe claims it was also Cagney's birthday as well, but that he never let anyone know it! Also note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. Normally, this was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby. However, this snipe was glued on so that some of the written portion is only readable when the snipe is folded over the bottom of the still, which slightly defeats this purpose (although one can see the top of the still and the snipe at the same time, which could not be done if the snipe was glued on the back). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! There is a stamp on the back of the still that reads, "PHOTOGRAPH BY SCHUYLER CRAIL WARNER BROS.". Condition: fine. There are a very few faint emulsion scuffs scattered around the edges of the still, but they are truthfully not at all noticeable except when the still is tilted to the light.
