An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Boy Meets Girl, the 1938 Lloyd Bacon Hollywood screenwriter movie-making romantic screwball comedy ("The season's laugh treat!"; "Stage play produced by George Abbott"; about a pair of Hollywood screenwriters who are assigned to write a screenplay for the studio's top cowboy star, whose career has been going downhill lately) starring James Cagney, Pat O'Brien, Marie Wilson, Ralph Bellamy, Frank McHugh, Dick Foran, and Ronald Reagan. Note that this was one of those "inside" Hollywood movies that get made from time to time. The screenwriters are obviously based on Hecht and McArthur, and the studio president is based on Darryl Zanuck! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet has been owned for decades by a collector who long ago put tape on the back of some of the foldlines (see below), and has stored it flat ever since. If we were to attempt to fold the poster, it would be very difficult due to the tape, so we will only send this poster rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has tape on the back of each crossfold and a piece on the back of the vertical foldline between the middle and bottom folds. There is also tape on the back of most of the left half of the bottom foldline, the left 4" of the middle foldline, and tape on the back of each corner, and on the back of tears or pinhole that were in the borders. It has been stored flat for many years . It has creases in the faces of all three stars, slightly extending below that area. There was a circular tear in the left of the middle foldline and some creases and faint smudges scattered throughout the poster. In spite of the above many defects, the poster still displays pretty well, and I could imagine many collectors displaying this poster as it is, but it is also true that many of the defects are the sort that respond well to restoration, so whether it is restored or not, I think the new owner will be happy to have this poster in their collection, but please look closely at our super-sized image (and read the above carefully) to see exactly what its defects are.
