Date Sold 6/13/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Chapter #1 (Who is the Clutching Hand?) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Clutching Hand, the 1936 Albert Herman serial science fiction (sci-fi) masked super villain crime mystery thriller serial ("A Craig Kennedy Thriller in fifteen chapters from the novel by Arthur B. Reeve") starring Jack Mulhall, William Farnum, Ruth Mix (daughter of Tom Mix, who appeared in around a dozen movies, starting as a teenager), Marion Shilling, Yakima Canutt, Rex Lease, and Mae Busch. Note that the IMDb says that the official title of this movie is "The Amazing Exploits of the Clutching Hand", but we have never seen any movie paper with that title (but it apparently does exist on some film prints). Also, like many other serials of the time, a feature version was created by editing the chapters of the serial into a 74 minute movie which had the same name as the serial and was also released in 1936. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this chapter 1 one-sheet from this sci-fi serial. We DID previously auction a one-sheet that looks like this 28 years ago, but that poster was for the feature version. Apparently, the feature version one-sheet was created by taking the printing plates from this poster and deleting the information at top center, and also deleting the words "in fifteen chapters" at lower left, because the feature version one-sheet has a blank area there where the words should be. This is the only poster we have auctioned for a specific chapter of this serial (we auctioned a one-sheet and a half-sheet that were for the entire serial). Condition: good to very good. The poster has 1" of separation at the bottom crossfold, with some creases to the left and right of the top one-third of the vertical fold. It has some minor creases on the rest of the folds. It has pinholes in the corners and some tears and small paper loss in the borders. After a relatively simple linenbacking, the poster will look fantastic! Learn More about condition grades
