An Autographed 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm] Cut Page (Learn More) Nichelle Nichols was a black African American actress from the 1950s to the 2020s. She is best remembered as Commander Uhura from the Star Trek TV series and movies. She had intended to quit Star Trek after the first season (because southern stations were refusing to air it, and it was hurting the show's ratings), but she met with Martin Luther King, who told her how great it was that she was on the show, because it showed his kids a non-stereotyped black woman, and she reconsidered and stayed on the show. Some of her other roles include: The Torturer, Are We There Yet, Snow Dogs, and Mister Buddwing. She passed away in 2022 at the age of 89. Important Added Info: This cut page has been personally autographed (signed) by Nichelle Nichols. It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! This autograph was obtained at the 1974 International Star Trek Convention, which was a wonderful early convention that had Isaac Asimov, Hal Clement, D.C. Fontana, DeForrest Kelley, Walter Koenig, Jeff Maynard, Nichelle Nichols, and George Takei appear in person! Our consignor attended the show as a fan, and he acquired autographs from Koenig and Takei pages of the program book when he met them. He also met Nichelle Nichols at the show, but he did not have his program book with him, and he got her to sign this sheet of paper (we are also auctioning the program book in a separate auction)! Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the autographs are authentic. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
