2m002 LOT OF 3 GERMAN MUMMY CANDID PHOTOS '30s Boris Karloff & Jack Pierce shown on each!

a lot of 3 German candid photos (ranging in size from 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" to 4 1/2" x 7 1/2") from The Mummy, the classic 1932 Karl Freund Universal Ancient Egypt romantic monster horror thriller ("It comes to life!") starring Boris Karloff ("The Uncanny"; in the title role as Imhotep the Mummy), Zita Johann, David Manners, Edward Van Sloan, Arthur Byron, Bramwell Fletcher, and Noble Johnson (as The Nubian). We have provided images of the front and back of all of them. Note that an expert collector tells us that, perhaps due to changing censorship in Germany, this movie was not wide-released to German theaters before World War II. However, the film was released in Austria in 1933. Therefore, these press stills are likely from either an aborted German release or they are from the Austrian 1933 release. We're not certain which, but either way they are still quite rare! Each is printed on a deluxe paper stock, and each has a red stamp on the back that says "Photo-Archiv S.V.D. Steyl No." We could find nothing about this company, and of course, that stamp could have been added many years later. There is typing on the back of each, as well as pencil writing, and the typing on the back of one loosely translates to "A film star becomes transformed, a living mummy is generated - it took 8 hours to make up the actor Karloff. The Mummy is almost finished".

UPDATED 11/15/2016: Note that we have updated the Description.

Measurements: trimmed from 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" to 4 1/2" x 7 1/2"

Condition: good to very good. The photos were trimmed from a larger size, but we don't know what that size would be, because we have never seen another photo like this! Two have one pinhole in the top border and the larger one has a pinhole in each top corner. The stills were certainly display wonderfully on the new owner's wall!
