An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Asphalt Jungle, the classic 1950 John Huston (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) crime film noir ("MGM presents the story of the city under the city."; "From a novel by W.R. Burnett"; about a "perfect robbery" with a team of top professionals, but of course, everything unravels, partially through double-crosses; perhaps the best movie of its kind!) starring Sterling Hayden, Louis Calhern, Jean Hagen, James Whitmore, Sam Jaffe (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), John McIntire, Marilyn Monroe, Marc Lawrence, Barry Kelley, Anthony Caruso, Teresa Celli, Brad Dexter, Don Haggerty, and Daniel Clarke NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that Marilyn Monroe was a virtual unknown when this classic film noir movie was first released in 1950, and did not even receive billing on any of the posters, but because the poster designers recognized the value of having a sexy woman's image in some of the advertising, they used an image of Marilyn on some of the posters, but the primary ad campaign for this movie was a text only poster, with the words "THE ASPHALT JUNGLE", with the tagline "THE CITY UNDER THE CITY", written in a cool font and design (the one-sheet has no image whatsoever). But almost every collector considers this insert the very best poster on the title, because not only is there a headshot of Marilyn at the top along with the other top cast, but there is also a full-length Marilyn at the bottom (alongside a cool montage of the cast members seeking the fortune in diamonds that they were robbing!). Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has tiny bits of surface paper loss on the bottom fold. It had 1 1/2" of separation at the right end of the top fold and someone had put tape on the back of that area which bled through to the front. There are similar tape stains in the left and right of the top border and in the upper and lower parts of the left blank border. There are creases in the bottom 5" of the poster. Someone long ago put white paint on some of the tape stains in the blank borders but otherwise did not restoration. Certainly additional restoration can be performed and the poster will display really well, but bear this in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
