An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/4" [18 x 26 cm]) (Learn More) Our Gang (also known as The Little Rascals or Hal Roach's Rascals) is an American series of comedy short films chronicling a group of poor neighborhood children and their adventures. Created by Hal Roach, the series was produced in various forms from 1922 to 1944. The franchise began as a series of silent short subjects produced by the Roach studio and released by Pathe Exchange. Roach changed distributors MGM in 1927, and the series entered its most popular period after converting to sound in 1929. Production continued at the Roach studio until 1938, when the studio's Our Gang production unit was sold to MGM, which produced the comedies until 1944. As MGM retained the rights to the Our Gang trademark, some of the Roach-produced films were re-released to under the title The Little Rascals, and that name become so well-known that later media (such as comic books) was often released under that name. The Our Gang/Little Rascals franchise has also branched out into features films, books, comic books, games, and more. Important Added Info: Note that this comic book (and three others we are currently auctioning) are part of the Four Color comic series II, and they are entitled "The Little Rascals", which is the name that "Our Gang" acquired when they moved to television. We are listing this comic book under the generic "Our Gang" title, because that is how we list "Little Rascals" movie items, but of course, it is a Four Color comic titled "The Little Rascals". Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading.
