Date Sold 1/31/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 3 digest-sized issues of Astounding Science Fiction, including a cover story on the making of Destination Moon, the movie scripted by Robert Heinlein. Heinlein had been Astounding's most popular author in the early 1940s, and he had quit writing for them over a contract dispute, and no doubt, this cover story was partly an effort to get him to write for them again! Of course, Astounding Science Fiction (initially titled "Astounding Stories of Super-Science"), the American science fiction magazine. As of 2013, it is the longest running continuously published magazine of that genre. It was first published in 1930 (Amazing Stories had preceded it by several years). In 1937, John Campbell became the editor and in 1938, he changed the name to Astounding Science-Fiction, and it became the premier science fiction magazine, launching the careers of Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, L.
