An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Way For a Sailor, the 1930 Sam Wood Navy Naval romantic sailing melodrama ("Metro-Goldwyn Mayer All Talking Picture"; "From the book by Albert Richard Wetjen") starring John Gilbert, Wallace Beery, Jim Tully, Leila Hyams, and Polly Moran. Note that this John Gilbert sound movie, like all his sound movies, completely dispels the myth that he had a high-pitched speaking voice, which ended his career! Actually, he had a fine speaking voice, and there is much speculation as to what it was that actually ended his career, and that can be found in various places on the Internet, but it was definitely not his voice! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1930 movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a glass slide and two stills from this movie until we received this lobby card! Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. There is slight darkening down the blank left 1/2" of the card, and there is a faint water stain in the upper left blank border. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition.
