An Original Vintage Ivory Snow Detergent Box (measures 3" x 8" x 11" [8 x 20 x 28 cm]) (Learn More) Marilyn Chambers was a former Ivory soap box model who became notorious when she appeared in the X-rated movie "Behind the Green Door", which caused her to be released from her modeling contract by Procter & Gamble, and she continued to make X-rated movies. She later had some roles in mainstream movies, including David Cronenberg's "Rabid", and later, she had a long-running series on the Playboy Channel on cable TV. She passed away on April 12, 2009 at the age of 56, following an aortic aneurysm. Important Added Info: Note that this was the advertising box that launched a scandal, and which we have never auctioned before! Ivory Snow hired pretty blonde model Marilyn Chambers to pose with a baby on the cover of their detergent box, which would not have been a big deal, except Chambers then got a part in the 1970 movie "The Owl and the Pussycat", and when her legitimate movie career did not take off, she contracted to appear in "Behind the Green Door" in 1972. When news that the star of this X-rated movie was also an Ivory Snow cover model, Procter & Gamble, makers of Ivory Snow, released her from her contract on a morals clause, and that became nationwide news! This is an actual example of the Ivory Snow box featuring Marilyn Chambers. We have been unable to determine exactly when it was released, but it was surely between 1969 and 1971. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good to fine. Not only is the box not disassembled, but it still has its original contents and is still factory sealed! It has some very minor wear but it is in great condition, probably as good as one could possibly hope.
