An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Tri-Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Sea Wolf, the classic 1941 Michael Curtiz seafaring sailor action adventure thriller ("Jack London's great novel of terror afloat"; based on the novel by Jack London) starring Edward G. Robinson (in the title role as the sadistic sea captain, "Wolf" Larsen, who follows Milton's philosophy, "better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven"), Ida Lupino, John Garfield, Alexander Knox, Gene Lockhart, Barry Fitzgerald (in one of his most memorable roles, as "Cooky"), Stanley Ridges, Francis McDonald, Howard de Silva, and Frank Lackteen NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Also note that the theater that used this poster glued the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). Finally, note this three-sheet poster was tri-folded only (which means there is one less vertical machine fold than usual). This means the poster has a significantly lesser number of folds than with three-sheets folded in the "regular" way, which is nice! Tri-folded three-sheets need to be sent in an oversized flat package, which measures roughly 13" x 30", so they cost more to send than regularly folded three-sheets, especially if they are sent to non-U.S. addresses. Condition: good. A small amount has been trimmed from the edges of the poster. The theater that used this poster glued the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). There is a small amount of tattering along the foldlines and around the edges of the poster. A restorer can remove the poster from the paper and properly linenback it, after which it will look great!
