8 Original 1947 Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

A Matter of Life and Death (released in the U.S. in 1947 as "Stairway to Heaven"), the classic 1946 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger English afterlife fantasy romantic melodrama ("In New Chromatic Technicolor!"; a fascinating movie; the early scenes are in color and then, artfully, the scenes in heaven are in black and white, kind of reverse from the usage of color in The Wizard of Oz) starring David Niven, Raymond Massey, Roger Livesey, Kim Hunter, Marius Goring, and Robert Coote. Note that American Kim Hunter played a lead role in this film, and she was the first American actress to appear in an English movie after World War II ended.

Important Added Info: Note that we have auctioned several single lobby cards from this movie, but we have only previously auctioned one complete set, and that was 10 years ago, when it sold for $1,700!

Condition: good to very good. Each card was used for a 1951 re-release, and someone wrote the 1951 re-release NSS number in the bottom right corner in grease pencil, and they put a small mark over the original NSS number on all the scene cards. The title card has a piece of yellowed tape at middle left and middle right, and diagonal creases in the top right. Card #7 has paper loss in the middle of the right blank border that very slightly extends into the man's jacket. Card #8 has many smudges in the top 1", and it was once lightly folded horizontally three times. Please look closely at our super-sized images to get a good sense of the exact condition of these rare cards.
