An Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] REPRODUCTION Still (Learn More) Johnny Sain was a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball from 1942 to 1955. He was best known for teaming with left-hander Warren Spahn on the Boston Braves teams from 1946 to 1951 (those two legendary pitchers spawned a famous catch phrase, which was "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain", which referred to them only having two pitchers who could win, so they always hoped for a rain delay that would allow Spahn to pitch again!). He was the runner-up for the National League's Most Valuable Player Award in the Braves' pennant-winning season of 1948, after leading the National League in wins, complete games and innings pitched. He later became further well known as one of the top pitching coaches in the majors. Sain passed away in 2006 at the age of 89.
