Important Added Info: Note that first release movie paper from this 1925 Rudolph Valentino movie is beyond rare! We had never auctioned even one poster or lobby card from its first release, until we were consigned this lobby card and also a title card (we auctioned the title card in August, and it was in much lesser condition, and it auctioned for $310). Also note that this lobby card has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the lobby card was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original lobby card (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the card had creases, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges, extending into the credits and the image of the cobra. There was one tear that extended into Valentino's coat and a long tear that extended into Naldi's arm, dress, and wrist. There were some pinholes, smudges, and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the lobby card was in fair condition prior to paperbacking. The card was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects, especially in the white border areas, and the restoration of the above defects. Please look closely at our super-sized image before placing a bid on this extremely rare lobby card. Learn More about condition grades
