Date Sold 9/29/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Unfolded Norwegian Travel Poster (measures 24 1/2" x 39 1/2" [62 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) The Norwegian America Line (Den Norske Amerikalinje) was a cruise ship line founded in 1910. After the World War I (WWI), the company was one of Norway's largest shipping lines, owning a fleet that included 19 vessels, several of which were for commercial cargo transport. After the World War II (WWII) heavy ships losses were overcome by the building of new vessels, however the reduction in the passengers' traffic by sea shifted the company's focus mainly to the cargo business, including container and bulk shipping from the 1970s. Artist: Karl Dahl Important Added Info: The MS Oslofjord was a combined ocean liner/cruise ship built in 1949 for Norwegian America Line. In a January 1957 incident that made international news, the ship tipped over and crashed against another ship while in dry dock in Hoboken, New Jersey. Two-hundred crew members were trapped inside the ship for more than an hour before being rescued. In 1967-1968 she was chartered to Greek Line and renamed MS Fulvia. In 1970, following an explosion in the engine room, the ship caught fire near the Canary Isles and had to be evacuated. She later sank while being towed to Tenerife. We have never auctioned this poster before! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has a few small pinholes around the edges and there is a tear at upper left near the ship that was covered by tape from the front. The rare poster is otherwise in pretty good condition and after a pretty simple linenbacking it will look great! Learn More about condition grades
