R40s Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 40 3/4") (Learn More)

Midnight, the 1934 Chester Erskine crime thriller starring Sidney Fox (she was a very pretty diminutive actress who began playing leading roles in 1931 at the age of 23, and she appeared in just 14 movies before retiring in 1934 when she married a studio executive; but she had an extremely unhappy abusive marriage, and she committed suicide in 1942, another one of those Hollywood tragedies we hear about all too often), O.P. Heggie (best remembered as the blind man who befriends the monster in "The Bride of Frankenstein", and also as the next door cellmate to Robert Donat in "The Count of Monte Cristo"), Henry Hull, Margaret Wycherly, Lynne Overman, Katherine Wilson, Richard Whorf, Humphrey Bogart, Moffat Johnson, and Henry O'Neill. Note that this was one of Bogart's final movies in Hollywood during his first period there, and after this, he gave up on Hollywood and went back to Broadway. The movie was quickly forgotten, but in 1947, some clever distributor dusted off this old movie and gave it a noir title, and advertised it with images of Bogart with a gun, and no doubt tricked people into thinking they were seeing a new Bogart movie!

Important Added Info: This poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them!
Note that this one-sheet measures 27 1/4" x 40 3/4". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is 27" x 41".

Condition: fine. This poster has been professionally linenbacked. Prior to being linenbacked, it was in fine condition. It only had the most minor of restoration, and it now looks wonderful!. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
