An Undated (probably 1970s) Movie Script Copy (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 156 pages) (Learn More) Nothing Doing, the 1949 movie script written by Preston Sturges. This script was never produced, but there was an attempt to finally bring it to the screen in the 1970s, when MGM and Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers negotiated to finally do so, but the project fell through and the script has still never been filmed. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script is a 1970s copy of the revised draft from August 23, 1949 and the screenplay was written by Preston Sturges. It was given to Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers by MGM, because MGM wanted to finally film this script, which had not been filmed back in 1949 when it was first written. Mr. Shyer started going through the script making extensive notations on the first 17 pages. Unfortunately, the project never materialized, but hopefully someday this will finally happen, and we can see this last unfilmed work by Preston Sturges. Note that this script was consigned to us directly from director/screenwriter Charles Shyer. Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. In addition, as a member of the screenwriter's branch of the Academy, he was sent many scripts where the producers hoped that their script would be nominated for a Best Screenwriting Academy Award, and many of these have "for your consideration" printed on the cover. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter! Condition: very good. There are annotations from Charles Shyer on the first 17 pages (see above), and his last name is written on the front cover. Note that we have photographed the cover of the script, the title page, the final page of the script (the one that reads "THE END"), and one or more interior pages. These images will not only provide important information about the script, but they also allow you to closely judge the condition of the script. The script is 100% complete!
