An Undated (probably 1960s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked German Movie Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 33") (Learn More) Richard III, the 1955 (released in the U.S. in 1956) Laurence Olivier English historical royalty romantic tragedy melodrama ("The Hunchback King whose lust for power brings death to all"; based on the play "by William Shakespeare") starring John Gielgud ("as Clarence"), Claire Bloom ("as Lady Anne"), Ralph Richardson ("as Buckingham"), Alec Clunes, Cedric Hardwicke ("as King Edward IV"), Stanley Baker, Laurence Naismith, Norman Wooland, Mary Kerridge, Pamela Brown, Helen Haye, John Laurie, Esmond Knight, and Laurence Olivier (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role "as Richard III") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Blase Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. There were creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss across the top 2" of the poster, and a lesser amount across the bottom 2" of the poster. There were a few scattered creases and scuffs within the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and linenbacking has minimized the above defects, and they are not very noticeable, except on close inspection. Note that, after linenbacking, the poster was roughly handled and there is now a 2" crease in the middle of the left border, in both the excess linen, and in the white border of the poster.
