eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 7r0312 LAUGHING BILL HYDE 8.25x10 still 1918 Will Rogers in his first movie, Anna Lehr, ultra rare! Date Sold 2/18/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Laughing Bill Hyde, the 1918 Hobart Henley silent Alaska Gold Rush romantic adventure melodrama ("Rex Beach's great story"; about a man who has no success and spends much of his time in jail, but then he goes to Alaska and he meets a pretty "red Indian" woman who has been cheated out of her gold mine, and the man cleverly cheats the cheater and gets her mine back and wins her too!) starring Will Rogers (in the title role as Bill Hyde), Anna Lehr (mother of Ann Dvorak), Clarence Oliver, Joseph Herbert, Robert Conville, Dan Mason, and John St. Polis. Note that this was Will Rogers' very first movie, and despite the character's name, it was not a comedy (the man has a nervous laugh!), and therefore, he could not tell jokes, and since the movie was silent, he could not speak at all, and yet, he was a big hit, and of course, went on to a legendary career. Movie paper from this very first Will Rogers movie is beyond rare. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never previously auctioned anything from this movie until we received this still! Condition: very good. Other than tiny paper loss in the top left corner, the still has survived in about as good condition as one could hope! Learn More about condition grades
