An Original Vintage 6" x 8" [15 x 20 cm] News Photo (Learn More)

Alla Nazimova (almost always billed as "Nazimova"), she was born Mariam Edez Adelaida Leventon in Russia in 1879. She was a pupil of Stanislavsky (and his "method" style of acting). She became a major stage star there, and came to the United States in the mid-1910s and made eleven movies for Metro in three years, including "Camille" opposite Rudolph Valentino. She produced movies that flopped badly, and she returned to the stage, returning to make a very few movies in the 1940s. She is as famous for her off screen behavior as for her on screen behavior, including the lavish parties she held at her villa/hotel named "The Garden of Alla"! Some of her movies include: Since You Went Away, In Our Time, Blood and Sand, Billions, A Woman of France, and War Brides. She passed away in 1945 at the age of 66 AND Sophie Tucker was a Russian Jewish singer/comedienne/actress from the 1920s to the 1930s and she appeared in a few movies including: Joker is Wild, Follow the Boys, Star is Born World Premiere, and Sensations of 1945. Her greatest fame came in the early 1900s (she was a cross between Mae West and Fanny Brice, and she was heavyset and homely, but she made fun of herself, and the audiences loved her!). One of her hits was called "Nobody Loves a Fat Girl, But Oh How a Fat Girl Can Love". Her nickname was "The Last of the Red Hot Mamas". SHe passed away in 1966 at the age of 82 AND Ben Bernie was a jazz musician and radio personality from the 1920s to the 1940s. He appeared in a few movies including Stolen Harmony and Shoot The Works. He passed away in 1943 at the age of 52.
Important Added Info: Note that this news photo measures 6" x 8" [15 x 20 cm].

Condition: very good. Note that the news photo is rippled in the bottom center (because of the snipe glued to the back) and that causes it to not lay completely flat. This causes "distortion" in our image because it does not lay completely flat in our scanner, but this distortion is solely in our digital image, and NOT in the photo itself. Otherwise, the news photo is in nice condition!
