An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40") (Learn More) The Proud Valley (released in the U.S. in 1941 as "The Tunnel"), the 1940 Pen Tennyson English Welsh coal mining cave-in disaster melodrama (about an American seaman who goes to work in a Welsh mining town; there is a cave-in and the workers want to rescue the trapped miners, but the management refuses; ultimately, Robeson sacrifices his life so that the trapped miners can be rescued) starring Paul Robeson (one of the first black African American actors to achieve success in mainstream sound movies; "The Samson of Song!"), Edward Chapman, Simon Lack, Rachel Thomas, Dilys Thomas, Edward Rigby, and Janet Johnson. Note that the producers of this melodrama wanted to give Paul Robeson a chance to use his magnificent voice, so they had scenes where he sings in the local church choir! Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this English movie! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has darkened slightly along the foldlines and there is tiny paper loss in the left crossfold, with some tiny tears in the bottom half of the left vertical fold.
