A Paperbacked Italian Travel Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/4" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Ravenna, the 1950 Italian travel poster designed to encourage people to travel to Ravenna, Italy. Note that this poster features Gino Barboli artwork of a mosaic of a woman with a crown and the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo (where the mosaic is located) Artist: Gino Barboli Important Added Info: Note that this poster was gelbacked and is now laying completely flat, so it will be sent rolled in a tube. What IS gelbacking? Learn More Condition: very good. The poster had paper loss in the left and right of the bottom border, affecting the text in both areas. It had some pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges, with a 5" tear in the left of the top border, extending into the blue background. It was folded across the middle with some tear on that fold. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the above defects (although they did not replace the missing text in the bottom border, no doubt rightfully assuming it will not show when the poster is framed), and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see slight signs of the restoration, but the poster displays really well (except for the bottom white border, as noted above)! Learn More about condition grades
